PROJECT TYPE
DESCRIPTION
Many Artsakh families had been impacted severely by the recent war, losing their family members and their homes in regions that were occupied by Azerbaijani forces. Families from Hadrut, Shushi, and Martakert regions had to seek temporary places to live in Stepanakert and Armenia. Their sons and husbands joined the armed forces to defend the homeland and sadly many of them didn’t make it back home. Those families needed urgent financial assistance before the Artsakh government can reorganize its resources to provide them with a relief package.
PROBLEM
Many Artsakh families had been impacted severely by the recent war, losing their family members and their homes in regions that were occupied by Azerbaijani forces. Families from Hadrut, Shushi, and Martakert regions had to seek temporary places to live in Stepanakert and Armenia. Their sons and husbands joined the armed forces to defend the homeland and sadly many of them didn’t make it back home. Those families needed urgent financial assistance before the Artsakh government can reorganize its resources to provide them with a relief package.
SOLUTION
Americans4Artsakh organized a fundraiser to collect funds for these families who most needed urgent financial assistance. An initial amount of $20,400 was raised and distributed to 35 families, each getting 300,000 AMD.
IMPACT
Families used the donated money to pay the rent for their temporary homes as well as to take care of their urgent needs. Thanks to these donations, they have been able to weather this exceedingly difficult transition.
