On September 27 of 2020, with the help of the Turkish Armed Forces and mercenaries from the Middle East, Azerbaijan attacked the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh. Using prohibited weapons and white phosphorus, bombing cultural sites, including the iconic church of Shushi, dehumanizing the POWs Azerbaijan and Turkey swept deep into the republic occupying vast settlements and killing dozens of civilians.
Americans for Artsakh remember the victims of the 44-day aggression launched by aggressive and radical forces. We applaud the most recent decision by the U.S. House of Representatives demanding from Azerbaijan to release all nearly 200 POWs that are still kept in Baku’s prison in dehumanizing conditions.
We call the American and international media and humans rights organizations to report the truth about the Armenian hostages putting pressure on Azerbaijan for the unconditional return of all POWs. We call the press to showcase Azerbaijan’s brutal and repressive behavior and pressure Ilham Aliyev’s regime.
On this historic day, we stand in solidarity with the freedom-loving brothers and sisters of Artsakh.
